We supply Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM) equipment and aftermarket engine air filter replacements for a broad range of piston-driven aircraft models. We have an extensive range of parts, and if we don’t have the aircraft filter part you’re looking for, we have the technology and know-how to design systems that fit your application needs.
We understand the importance of your engines running smoothly. That is why all Donaldson general aviation engine air filters contain synthetic dry media — not cellulose. We design our innovative air filters to be simple to change, to be long lasting with high filtration efficiency and to deliver lower silica levels in engine oil. According to the FAA Paper Filter Airworthiness Directive (AD 84-26-02), higher cellulose filters are required to be replaced at more frequent, regular intervals.
We design our filters for efficiency, meaning that they only need to be changed after three years or 500 hours or five cleanings — a much longer interval than oiled foam filters that typically need to be replaced every year or 100 hours. Air filter foam for small engines is cheap, but these filters don’t last as long or provide the efficiency of our high-performance filters.
In most cases, we make filter replacements that fit into the housing attached to the airframe, which is often constructed by the aircraft manufacturer. Most systems also include a bypass to prevent engine shutdown during extreme plugging or for carbureted engines.
