We offer filtration systems for main engines, auxiliary power units and gearboxes and only use media (typically cellulose-based or fiberglass-based) that has been qualified to perform in aerospace applications.
Contamination in aircraft lube oil systems comes primarily from combustion byproducts and heat. Large turbofan engines typically have a one- or two-filter lubrication system. A two-filter system normally has a main lube filter and a scavenge filter, both of which are usually low-pressure filter cartridges fitted into a simple housing or a manifold integrated into the engine.

With extensive experience in finishing castings from other companies, as well as casting our own low-pressure lube systems, we can develop an engine lubrication system specifically for your needs.
Commercial aircraft and rotorcraft both have auxiliary power units (APU) that run secondary systems when the aircraft main engine isn’t on. In addition to developing lube manifolds, Donaldson offers PMA replacement parts (in some regions) for both commercial aircraft and rotorcraft APU applications.
Gearboxes are generally closed or sealed systems, so contamination typically comes from internal wear. Some gearboxes may be vented to compensate for atmospheric changes, and these vents can also introduce contamination.
