Overview
Ozone is everywhere, so helping protect aircraft fuel tank inerting systems from ozone damage can naturally be challenging. Ozone reacts with the tube sheet — the sealing end of the air separation module (ASM) — at the ends where the tube sheets are potted or sealed. Oxygen diffuses through the tube sheet when the tubes are functioning correctly, but ozone-caused deterioration of the potting material can create a bypass, reducing the efficiency of the system. Reduced efficiency means the tube sheets will need to be replaced more often, requiring additional maintenance and cost.
With you in mind, Donaldson has designed and developed aircraft ozone converters for over a decade. Our ozone converter systems protect the potted ends of tube sheets, allowing them to maintain oxygen separation efficiency.
